With a Commodore 64 computer and 300-baud modem, Luis entered the world of communications at the ripe age of 10. An early online criminal, Luis swapped copyrighted video games before BitTorrent was a gleam in anyone’s eye. As a result of these early rouge dealings with computers, he vowed to enter a profession that would allow him to pursue the wonders of communication technologies.
Having skirted the dot com boom and bust, he became determined to tear down the walls that divided the Internet from the rest of the communications landscape while also looking for opportunities to bring humanity back into marketing communications. Luis does this today at Compass Point//McCann, focusing on insight, innovation, and channel strategy. Prior to Compass Point, Luis ran the strategic planning practice at Martin Williams, and worked at Mullen Lowe in Boston, MA as Group Media Director on brands ranging from Orbitz.com to Four Seasons Hotels. Before heading to Boston, Luis grew up in the Minneapolis advertising community, starting his career almost 20 years ago at Campbell Mithun and spending time at Target Corporation’s internal marketing group.
Luis’s work has been honored with Mediapost’s Creative Media Award. He received a B.S. in Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University and is currently studying Anthropology at Harvard University.
