Does "guerrilla marketing" have a place anymore?
It seems like only yesterday that putting ads in restrooms was considered “guerrilla marketing.” Today, it’s a legitimate advertising medium with a national buying network. As the world of marketing communications changes, where do guerrilla tactics fit in? Is anything really guerrilla anymore? Join your colleagues and hear John Jarvis of GIRAFFE discuss the evolution of guerrilla marketing–and the creative opportunities it spawned–and examine where the nontraditional world of marketing might be headed.
John Jarvis has spent the last 25+ years in the Minneapolis advertising community, working at a number of different agencies as a copywriter and creative director, winning dozens of local, national and international awards along the way. In 1989 he was a founding partner of Lynch Jarvis Jones in Minneapolis. He spent several years as a freelance writer for agencies around the country, and most recently served as CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Colle + McVoy in Minneapolis. In his six-plus years at C+M, he raised the agency’s profile from a third-tier creative agency to the top spot at the local awards show. In 2007, John formed GIRAFFE, a marketing and creativity consulting firm. He currently works with a variety of ad and PR firms on issues of creativity and management, and provides creative and strategic services for several clients, including Sun Country Airlines.
